Interiors term

Drywall

Definition: Drywall, also called gypsum board or wallboard, is a panel made of a gypsum core faced with paper or fiberglass, fastened to studs or joists to form interior walls and ceilings.

Why it matters

Drywall is the surface almost every interior wall and ceiling is built from, so water damage, remodels and new walls all come back to it. The board type matters: moisture-resistant and fire-rated boards are made for bathrooms, garages and other specific areas.
