Terms of Service

Last updated: May 1, 2026 · Effective immediately

Agreement to terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Heward Home Improvement website (hewardhi.com) and any services we provide. By using the site or requesting an estimate, you agree to these Terms.

Heward Home Improvement is a Maryland family-owned contractor (MHIC #108101) based at 214 Grande View Ave, Edgewater, MD 21037.

Use of the website

You may use this site to learn about our services, view our work, and request a free estimate. You agree not to:

  • Use the site for any unlawful purpose
  • Submit false or misleading information in our forms
  • Attempt to interfere with the site’s operation, security, or other users
  • Use automated tools to scrape, copy, or harvest content
  • Copy or reproduce our photos, copy, or work without written permission

Estimates & quotes

Estimates are free, no-obligation, and valid for 30 days from the date issued. Any quote we provide is based on:

  • The information you give us
  • Our walk-through of the property
  • Current material costs at the time of the estimate

Heads up: If material costs change significantly between estimate and start date, or if unexpected conditions are discovered during the work (rotten decking under shingles, hidden damage, etc.), we’ll talk to you before any change. No surprise invoices, ever.

Project contracts

Any work we perform is governed by a signed contract that includes:

  • A detailed scope of work
  • Materials, brands, and specs
  • Total price and payment schedule
  • Start and completion windows
  • Warranty terms (see below)

This website is for informational purposes only — it doesn’t create a contract. Everything we promise to do for you is in writing in the project contract.

Payment terms

Unless agreed otherwise in the project contract:

  • A deposit is typically required to schedule the work
  • Progress payments are tied to milestones, not calendar dates
  • Final payment is due upon your sign-off that the work is complete
  • We accept check, credit card, ACH, and financing (terms vary)

Late payments may incur a 1.5%/month service charge as permitted by Maryland law.

Warranty

We stand behind every job. Specific warranty terms depend on the service:

  • Workmanship — 5 years on labor for most exterior work; 2 years for interior
  • Materials — covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, which we’ll register on your behalf
  • Storm/act-of-God damage — not covered; consult your homeowner’s insurance

Warranty claims should be made by calling (410) 507-7272 or emailing hello@hewardhi.com. We respond within one business day.

Cancellation & refunds

Maryland law gives you the right to cancel any home-improvement contract within 5 business days for a full refund of your deposit. After that:

  • If we haven’t ordered materials or scheduled crews, refunds are honored less a reasonable administrative fee
  • If materials have been ordered, those costs are deducted
  • Once work begins, refunds cover only what hasn’t been completed

Intellectual property

All content on this site — photos, copy, designs, logo — is owned by Heward Home Improvement or used with permission. You may not copy, reproduce, or repost it elsewhere without our written consent. Project photos taken by us remain our property; we may use them for marketing unless you opt out in writing.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Maryland law, our liability for any claim related to the website is limited to $100. This limit doesn’t apply to our project contracts — those have their own terms and are governed by Maryland contractor law. This site is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind regarding accuracy or uptime.

Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold Heward Home Improvement harmless from any claims arising out of your misuse of this site or violation of these Terms. This doesn’t affect rights you have under our project contracts or under Maryland consumer protection law.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be on this page. Continued use of the site means you accept the updated Terms.

Questions?

If anything in here is unclear, just ask. We’d rather have a 10-minute phone call than a confused customer.
